The stratosphere is a layer of the Earth's atmosphere that lies above the troposphere and below the mesosphere.
The ozone layer is mainly found in the lower part of the stratosphere.
This ozone-rich region is located at an altitude of about 15–40 kilometers (10–25 miles) above the Earth's surface.
The ozone layer is extremely important because it absorbs and scatters harmful ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the Sun.
